- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- baking soda a pinch
- maple flavoring to taste
Instructions
- Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
- Add sugar and buttermilk, stirring continuously until the sugar is fully dissolved. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat, sprinkle the baking soda on top, and stir it in. The mixture will foam up.
- Add maple flavoring to taste.
- Stir well, then transfer to a container and store in the refrigerator.
Notes
Store syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Gently reheat the syrup before serving if it gets too thick in the fridge.
