Sugar Cookie Bars

These Sugar Cookie Bars are a delightful treat bursting with flavor. With a rich mix of butter, brown sugar, and white chocolate chips, they are easy to prepare and perfect for gatherings or a sweet snack.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 tablespoons (1 cup) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups light brown sugar lightly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest optional
  • 21/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 21/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Food coloring optional
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons sprinkles optional, to top bars

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper, ensuring an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature. Transfer all the melted butter to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Whisk in the brown sugar until the mixture resembles wet sand. Incorporate the eggs, vanilla, salt, and optional orange zest, whisking until creamy and well combined.
  4. Gently fold in the flour and white chocolate chips using a spatula until no dry flour remains; the batter will be thick.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan, smoothing the top, and bake for 25 to 28 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the center is set.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding the optional orange zest to the batter.
Allow the bars to cool fully in the pan before cutting for cleaner slices.
Sprinkles can be added on top after frosting for an extra festive touch.
