Strawberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries cleaned and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¾ cup water
  • Red food coloring optional

Instructions

  1. Mash 1 cup of chopped strawberries in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; then stir in water and the mashed strawberries.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously. Add red food coloring if a darker hue is desired.
  4. Cook and stir for 3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and gently stir in the reserved chopped strawberries. Let the mixture cool for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes
