Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- kosher salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 slices sharp white cheddar cheese
- 10 ounces butter lettuce
- 1 ½ cups cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ cup chopped pickles
- dill pickle vinaigrette, for topping
Instructions
- Heat the butter in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, and divide it into 4 pieces.
- Once the skillet is hot, press each piece of ground beef into the skillet, using a jar or spatula to smash it down. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, then flip and smash the other side until you achieve golden, crisp edges.
- Place a slice of cheddar over each smash burger. Let it melt completely, then remove the burgers from the skillet.
- In a bowl, toss the lettuce with a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the tomatoes and pickles. Tear or cut the smash burgers into pieces and scatter over the salad.
- Drizzle with dill pickle vinaigrette and serve.
Notes
For added flavor, try using a mix of spices on the beef before cooking.
Make sure not to overcrowd the skillet for better caramelization of the burgers.
Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
