  • Total Time: 0 hours
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 25 ounces ravioli, divided, any variety
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, plus more for garnishing
  • Fresh herbs, optional for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, add ground beef and cook over medium-high heat, crumbling it as it cooks until browned.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt, and pepper; simmer for 3-4 minutes until warmed through.
  5. Spread about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of the meat sauce in the bottom of the casserole dish.
  6. Layer half of the ravioli evenly on top of the sauce.
  7. Spread half of the remaining meat sauce over the ravioli.
  8. Top with half of the mozzarella cheese and then add the remaining ravioli.
  9. Spread the remaining meat sauce over the ravioli.
  10. Top with the remaining mozzarella and sprinkle all of the Parmesan cheese on top.
  11. Cover the dish tightly with foil and refrigerate up to 48 hours if making ahead; allow to rest at room temperature for an hour before baking.
  12. Bake covered for 35 minutes.
  13. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is lightly browned and casserole is bubbly.
  14. Let rest for 10-15 minutes before garnishing, slicing, and serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
If using frozen ravioli, ensure it is thawed before layering in the dish.
For extra flavor, consider adding fresh herbs as a garnish before serving.
