- 1 cup very warm water (110°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons oil (olive, avocado or vegetable oil)
- 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a stand mixer with a hook attachment. Stir and let sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly foam appears.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour and salt until mixed well.
- Add the activated yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir at slow speed until a dough forms, scraping sides as needed. (This can also be done by hand if preferred.)
- Increase mixer speed to medium-high and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it forms a smooth ball. If it sticks, add flour gradually, about 1 tablespoon at a time.
- Knead the dough a few times on a floured surface to shape it into a ball. Grease a large bowl with oil and place the dough ball inside, rolling it to coat.
- Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size, about 90 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F and lightly grease a pizza pan with cooking spray.
- Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface into a 10-12 inch circle.
- Transfer dough to the pizza pan, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is golden and crust is perfectly baked.
- For optional garlic butter, whisk together melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over crust right after removing from the oven.
Notes
For a thicker crust, use less pressure when rolling out the dough.
You can prepare the dough in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days before use.
