Pizza Dough

This homemade pizza dough features an irresistible flavor and simple preparation, making it a fantastic choice for a quick dinner or tasty comfort food. With just a few key ingredients, you can create a delicious base for your favorite pizza toppings!

  • Total Time: 0 hours
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup very warm water (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons oil (olive, avocado or vegetable oil)
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a stand mixer with a hook attachment. Stir and let sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly foam appears.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and salt until mixed well.
  3. Add the activated yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir at slow speed until a dough forms, scraping sides as needed. (This can also be done by hand if preferred.)
  4. Increase mixer speed to medium-high and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it forms a smooth ball. If it sticks, add flour gradually, about 1 tablespoon at a time.
  5. Knead the dough a few times on a floured surface to shape it into a ball. Grease a large bowl with oil and place the dough ball inside, rolling it to coat.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size, about 90 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 450°F and lightly grease a pizza pan with cooking spray.
  8. Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface into a 10-12 inch circle.
  9. Transfer dough to the pizza pan, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is golden and crust is perfectly baked.
  10. For optional garlic butter, whisk together melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over crust right after removing from the oven.

Notes

For a thicker crust, use less pressure when rolling out the dough.
You can prepare the dough in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days before use.
Experiment with different toppings to customize your pizza.
