Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces broccolini, cut thicker stems in half lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
- zest of one lemon
- 3 tablespoons water or broth
- salt and pepper to taste
- optional- chili crisp
Instructions
- Cut any thick stems of the broccolini in half lengthwise for quicker cooking.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add the garlic, stirring until fragrant and golden.
- Incorporate the lemon zest and continue to stir for one minute before adding the broccolini and tossing to coat.
- Season with salt and pepper, then add water and allow to simmer, covering tightly.
- Cook until the broccolini is tender-crisp, about 4 minutes; it should be bright green and slightly bendable. Uncover to evaporate any excess moisture, adjusting salt if needed.
- Transfer the broccolini to a platter, sprinkle the garlic and lemon zest on top, and add chili crisp before serving.
Notes
For a bit of heat, consider adding more chili crisp or a dash of red pepper flakes.
Ensure the broccolini remains vibrant and green by not overcooking it.
This dish pairs wonderfully with grilled meats or as part of a vegetarian spread.
