Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup chicken broth, vegetable broth, or water
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, divided
- 2 cloves garlic finely minced or pressed through a garlic press
- ½ teaspoon coarse, kosher salt
- 1 pound fresh green beans, ends trimmed, if needed
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
Instructions
- In a 10- or 12-inch skillet, combine the broth (or water), 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, garlic, and salt. Heat to a simmer over medium heat.
- Introduce the green beans, giving them a quick toss. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 6 to 8 minutes, adjusting heat as necessary to maintain a gentle simmer.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and add the remaining tablespoon of lemon juice along with the lemon zest.
- Serve the green beans immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a mild kick.
If green beans are large, cut them into smaller pieces for more even cooking.
Adjust the lemon juice to taste before serving.
