- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced (about 1 cup)
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 4 cups (32 ounces) beef broth
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 bag (20 ounces) fresh cheese tortellini, refrigerated
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup (113 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup (50 g) romano cheese, shredded
- ½ cup (50 g) parmesan cheese, shredded
- Grated parmesan, for garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until meat is browned.
- Add marinara sauce, beef broth, and crushed tomatoes. Stir and simmer.
- Incorporate fresh tortellini and cook until tender.
- Lower heat and stir in heavy cream and cheeses until melted.
- Serve warm, garnished with parmesan and parsley.
Notes
For added flavor, sauté spinach or kale with the onions.
Use homemade marinara for a fresher taste.
Adjust thickness by adding more broth or cooking longer.
