These Jalapeño Pepper Jack Turkey Burgers are flavorful and easy to make, featuring spicy jalapeños and pepper jack cheese, perfect for a quick and satisfying dinner.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 Tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 pounds (32 oz) 93% lean ground turkey*
  • optional: 6 slices pepper jack cheese
  • for serving: hamburger buns, sliced jalapeño, spicy mayo, guacamole, tomato, lettuce, etc.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, pepper jack cheese, onion, garlic, cilantro, jalapeño, Worcestershire sauce, salt, smoked paprika, cumin, and black pepper.
  2. Add the ground turkey and mix gently until fully combined. Form the mixture into 6 patties, about 1/2 cup each, and make a slight indentation in the center of each patty.
  3. Place the patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours to help maintain their shape.
  4. Preheat the grill to high and grease the grates with vegetable oil. Grill the cold patties for 5 minutes with the lid closed, then flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. If desired, add cheese during the last 30 seconds of grilling.
  6. Serve the burgers on hamburger buns with your choice of toppings, such as jalapeños, spicy mayo, guacamole, tomato, and lettuce.
  7. Store any leftover burgers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

Chilling the patties before grilling enhances their flavor and helps them maintain shape during cooking.
For meal prep, these can be frozen for up to 3 months; just remember to thaw before grilling.
Customize toppings based on preference for a unique twist every time.
