  • Pinch of allspice
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/8 cup whole milk (for glaze)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon whole milk (for icing)
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  • Combine whole milk, canola oil, and sugar in a saucepan; heat until warm and then add active dry yeast.
  • Mix in 4 cups of flour until a sticky dough forms; let rise for 1 hour.
  • Add remaining flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; combine.
  • Prepare spice mix by combining sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and allspice.
  • Roll out dough, sprinkle with spice mixture and raisins, fold, and shape into buns.
  • Let rise for 30 minutes; preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Brush with egg white and milk glaze; bake for 20 minutes until golden.
  • Mix icing ingredients and pipe over cooled buns.
