- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon whole milk (for icing)
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions
- Combine whole milk, canola oil, and sugar in a saucepan; heat until warm and then add active dry yeast.
- Mix in 4 cups of flour until a sticky dough forms; let rise for 1 hour.
- Add remaining flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; combine.
- Prepare spice mix by combining sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and allspice.
- Roll out dough, sprinkle with spice mixture and raisins, fold, and shape into buns.
- Let rise for 30 minutes; preheat oven to 400°F.
- Brush with egg white and milk glaze; bake for 20 minutes until golden.
- Mix icing ingredients and pipe over cooled buns.
Notes
Ensure milk mixture is warm to activate yeast effectively.
Allow adequate rising time for light, fluffy buns.
Buns can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
