Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 c. yellow onion diced
- 1 tbsp garlic minced
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 4 c. low sodium beef broth
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
- 16 oz elbow macaroni dry
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef and diced onions over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic during the last minute of cooking and drain off the grease.
- Lower the heat to low and incorporate kosher salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste into the mixture. Stir thoroughly until well combined.
- Pour in the low sodium beef broth, water, and elbow macaroni, stirring to mix. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until the macaroni is fully cooked.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Cover the pot to let the cheese melt within.
Notes
You can use ground turkey or chicken as a healthier alternative to ground beef.
Feel free to add vegetables such as bell peppers or peas for extra nutrition.
For a spicy kick, incorporate crushed red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
