Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless
- ¼ pound ham sliced
- 8 slices cheese in half
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
- 6 tablespoons butter
- ⅓ cup chicken broth
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice fresh
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Lightly pound the chicken breast with a meat mallet, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.
- Create a pocket in each chicken breast and fill it with 2 halves of cheese, slices of ham, and 2 additional halves of cheese. Secure with toothpicks.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Cook the chicken breasts for 6 minutes on each side until golden brown, then remove them from the skillet.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for one minute, stirring frequently. Add the flour and mix well. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and lemon juice, lightly seasoning with salt and pepper, and let simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them.
- Cover the skillet with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (165°F).
Notes
Using a meat mallet helps to tenderize the chicken for easier cooking.
Ensure that the fillings are tucked securely in the chicken to prevent spillage during cooking.
