Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 5 cloves garlic minced (about 2–3 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 to 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 pounds new york strip steaks (or other steak of choice)
Instructions
- Whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl until well combined.
- Put the steaks in a large zip-top bag and pour the marinade over them. Remove excess air, seal the bag, and massage to ensure the meat is well coated.
- Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or up to 24 hours, turning the bag halfway through if possible.
- Before grilling, let the steaks sit out for 20 to 30 minutes to reach room temperature. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (350°F to 400°F).
- Take the steaks out of the marinade and discard any remaining marinade. Grill for 5 to 7 minutes per side for medium-rare (for a 1 to 1½-inch thick steak), or refer to a doneness chart for your preferred temperature.
- After grilling, transfer the steaks to a plate or cutting board, cover loosely with foil, and let them rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Slice against the grain and serve.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate the steaks overnight if possible.
Adjust honey according to desired sweetness.
Make sure your grill is properly preheated for optimal cooking.
