- 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- ½ cup (20g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 ounces (113g) unsweetened applesauce, (about ½ cup)
- 2 ounces (57g) unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups (186g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips, (vegan ones, to keep it vegan)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9×9” pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Combine the vegetable oil and sugar in a bowl. Stir in the vanilla, cocoa powder, and applesauce.
- Add the melted chocolate and salt to the mixture and stir until smooth. Gradually incorporate the flour and then add the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-28 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the brownies to cool before cutting.
- For an added touch, sprinkle some powdered sugar on top before serving.
Notes
Make sure to use vegan chocolate chips for a fully plant-based dessert.
These brownies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
For extra fudginess, avoid overbaking.
