Dumpling Lasagna

This Dumpling Lasagna delivers irresistible flavor with a simple prep. Made with ground chicken, garlic, and wonton wrappers, it’s perfect for a quick dinner or a cozy meal at home.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • ½ teaspoon ginger (freshly grated)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 green onions (chopped)
  • ½ small onion (finely diced)
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • ½ cup hot water
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped chives (or green onions)
  • chili crisp (or chili oil)
  • soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix 1 pound of ground chicken, 3 minced garlic cloves, ½ teaspoon grated ginger, ¼ cup soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon chili flakes, 2 chopped green onions, and ½ diced onion until well combined.
  3. Grease an 8×8 inch or 9×9 inch baking dish lightly. Layer wonton wrappers on the bottom, slightly overlapping, and spread a thin layer of the chicken mixture over them.
  4. Continue layering with more wonton wrappers and chicken mixture until all are used, finishing with a last layer of wonton wrappers on top.
  5. Pour ½ cup hot water evenly over the dish. Place the baking dish into a larger roasting dish filled with hot water halfway up the sides to create a water bath. Cover with foil tightly.
  6. Bake in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the wonton layers are tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes. Top with sesame seeds, chopped chives, chili oil, and a drizzle of soy sauce before serving.

Notes

Use low sodium soy sauce to keep the dish healthier.
Feel free to add more vegetables, like spinach or bell peppers, for added nutrition.
Letting the lasagna rest before serving helps the layers set.
