Ingredients
Scale
- 1 spiral ham 8 to 10 pounds, fully cooked
- 1 cup honey
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons dijon mustard optional
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- Remove the packaging and plastic disk from the bottom of the ham and discard. Place the ham in a shallow roasting pan, cut side down, and cover it with foil.
- Bake for 12 to 16 minutes per pound until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F.
- While the ham bakes, mix together honey, melted butter, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and cloves in a small bowl.
- Once the ham reaches 135°F, take it out of the oven and increase the temperature to 425°F.
- Brush the ham generously with the honey glaze, applying 2 to 3 coats for best flavor.
- Return the ham to the oven and cook uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes, until it reaches 140°F and the glaze is browned.
- Remove the ham and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Drizzle with juices before serving if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, allow the glaze to sit for a few minutes before applying it to the ham.
Ensure the ham is fully cooked to maintain the safety and taste of the dish.
Consider using a meat thermometer for accurate temperature checks.
