Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ¼ cups (250 g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into 8 pieces
- ½ cup (50 g) natural cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon espresso powder, optional
- ½ cups (63 g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ rounded teaspoon table salt, (or fine sea salt)
- ½ cup (85 g) mini chocolate chips, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F (175C) and prepare a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly with butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined and lightened in color, about 30-45 seconds of whisking.
- Melt the butter in a separate bowl, then stir in the cocoa for deeper chocolate flavor. Add espresso powder if using.
- Combine the melted butter mixture with the sugar and eggs mixture and mix until well incorporated.
- Add all-purpose flour and salt to the mixture, stirring until combined. Fold in mini chocolate chips if desired.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 23 minutes, or until a toothpick can be inserted and comes out clean or with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a richer chocolate flavor, include espresso powder with the melted butter and cocoa.
Feel free to add nuts for additional texture and flavor if desired.
