Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cup peanut butter or nut or seed butter of choice (360g)
- 3/4 cup chocolate protein powder (105g)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp water (45g) or more if needed
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup or additional water (30g)
- 4 oz chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Line the bottom of an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper.
- If the nut butter is not soft, warm it gently in the microwave or on the stovetop until it becomes easy to stir.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the protein powder and salt, then mix in the water, optional maple syrup, and nut butter until well combined.
- Spread the dough evenly in the lined pan, using a spatula or your hands to press it down firmly.
- If adding chocolate, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or using a double boiler.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the bars, smoothing it with a spoon or spatula.
- Allow the chocolate to set by refrigerating or letting it sit at room temperature. Once set, slice into bars or squares.
- Store leftovers covered at room temperature for three days, in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to three months.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the amount of maple syrup based on your sweetness preference.
For added texture, consider mixing in nuts or seeds into the dough.
