Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups dry rotini pasta
- 3 cups shredded swiss cheese
- 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
- 2 cups diced cooked ham
- 10.5-ounce can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 3–4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 sleeve ritz crackers, lightly crushed
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup salted butter, melted
- fresh parsley, optional for garnishing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a 9×13-inch casserole dish by spraying or greasing it lightly.
- Cook the pasta in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain, rinse, and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together the shredded Swiss cheese, cooked chicken, diced ham, cream of chicken soup, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Add the cooked pasta to the filling mixture and stir together until combined.
- Pour the filling into the prepared baking dish and gently smooth the top with a spatula.
- For make-ahead preparation, cover tightly with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for up to 48 hours. Remove from the fridge an hour before baking to warm up.
- In another bowl, combine the crushed Ritz crackers with Parmesan and drizzle with melted butter. Toss to mix, leaving some larger pieces.
- Sprinkle the cracker topping evenly over the filling in the casserole dish.
- Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through for even browning. If the topping darkens too quickly, cover with foil for the second half of baking.
- Optionally garnish with parsley, allow to cool slightly, and then serve.
Notes
For a faster prep, use leftover rotisserie chicken and leftover ham.
Consider substituting the Swiss cheese with mozzarella or provolone for a different flavor profile.
If preparing in advance, allow the casserole to reach room temperature before baking for the best results.
