Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold, cut into cubes
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line a 9-inch baking pan with parchment or spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup of the cake mix, the brown sugar, flour, butter, vanilla, and cinnamon. Use a pastry cutter to mix until crumbly.
- In another bowl, mix the remaining cake mix with the 3 eggs and sour cream.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan, and sprinkle half of the crumb mixture evenly on top.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the crumb mixture, spreading gently as needed without disturbing the crumb layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top.
- Bake until a tester inserted in the middle comes out clean, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Make sure the butter is cold for the crumb mixture to achieve the perfect texture.
You can add nuts or chocolate chips for extra flavor and texture if desired.
