Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed (about 6 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar + more, to taste
- 4 cups ice cold water
- 1 cup ice + more for serving
- Lemon slices for serving
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine blueberries, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium-low until the berries start to burst, about 6 minutes.
- Mash the berries using a potato masher, wooden spoon, or fork.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing on the berries to extract the juice.
- Pour the blueberry syrup into a pitcher and add 1 cup of ice.
- Mix in the lemon juice and cold water until well combined.
- Adjust sweetness with more sugar if desired. Refrigerate if not serving immediately.
- Serve in glasses over ice, garnishing with fresh lemon slices and blueberries.
Notes
Adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar based on your taste preference.
For a stronger blueberry flavor, let the syrup cool and infuse longer before straining.
Add fresh mint for a refreshing twist.
