BBQ Chicken Pizza

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 16 ounce store-bought pizza dough
  • ½ cup bbq sauce (divided use)
  • 1 ½2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely diced (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon italian seasoning (optional)
  • fresh or dried parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F. Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil, seasoning both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. Cook the chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side until fully cooked. Let it rest for 5 minutes and then dice into small pieces.
  3. Grease a pizza pan or baking sheet with olive oil. On a floured surface, stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 14-inch circle, leaving a thicker edge for the crust. Transfer to the prepared pan.
  4. Prick the dough with a fork to prevent bubbling, and parbake the crust in the oven for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  5. Spread half of the BBQ sauce over the parbaked crust, leaving the edges untouched for the crust.
  6. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Evenly distribute the chicken, crumbled bacon, and diced red onion over the cheese.
  7. Drizzle the remaining BBQ sauce over the toppings and sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese on top. Add Italian seasoning if using.
  8. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  9. Let the pizza cool for 2-3 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, slice, and serve.

Notes

Make sure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F for safety.
You can use your favorite brand of BBQ sauce for a personalized touch.
