Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (extra lean)
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 24 ounces marinara sauce (1 jar)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 pound frozen ravioli (beef or cheese)
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, seasoning with salt, pepper, and italian seasoning. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Cook until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
- Combine marinara sauce and heavy cream with the beef mixture and let it simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by greasing it with olive oil.
- Layer the bottom of the baking dish with a portion of the creamy beef sauce, then arrange a layer of frozen ravioli on top. Sprinkle a third of the mozzarella cheese over this layer. Repeat the layers, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. After that, remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Once baked, let the dish rest for a few minutes, then sprinkle freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a leaner option.
Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the layers for extra flavor and nutrition.
For a richer taste, try adding some grated Parmesan to the cheese layers.
