Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large ripe avocados
- 1/4 cup full-fat sour cream
- 1 lime freshly squeezed (about 2 tablespoons juice)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic about 1 small clove
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro chopped, optional
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Pinch of salt to taste
Instructions
- Halve and pit the avocados, then scoop the flesh into the bowl of a small food processor.
- Add sour cream, lime juice, minced garlic, cilantro, red pepper flakes, and onion powder to the processor.
- Pulse a few times to break down the avocado, then blend continuously for 30 to 45 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once. The crema should be smooth.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with a pinch of salt or an extra squeeze of lime. For a thinner consistency, add water 1 teaspoon at a time until you reach desired texture.
- Serve immediately with chips or use as a drizzle for tacos, fajitas, salads, or bowls.
Notes
Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor; use ripe avocados for a smoother texture.
Customize the heat level by adjusting the amount of red pepper flakes to your taste. You can also add more or less lime juice based on your preference.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator, but it’s best enjoyed fresh.
