Instructions

  • Mix the all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and granulated sugar in a bowl.
  • Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Activate yeast by combining warm milk, active dry yeast, and water; let it sit until frothy.
  • Add the yeast mixture and egg to the flour mixture; stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for 30-60 minutes.
  • Roll out refrigerated dough into a rectangle.
  • Spread apple pie filling over the dough and sprinkle ground cardamom on top.
  • Fold edges over filling and transfer to a baking sheet; cut slits along the edges.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  • Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough water to achieve desired consistency.
