This Vegan Garlic Pull Apart Bread offers a delightful garlic flavor paired with buttery goodness. It’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion, whether as an appetizer or a cozy snack.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 10-12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warmed water
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dried yeast
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted vegan butter
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus up to 2 tablespoons if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6 tablespoons salted vegan butter, room temperature/softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ¼ teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for spice)
  • Melted vegan butter (to brush on bread before baking)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional for topping on baked bread)

Instructions

  • Combine lukewarm water and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5-10 minutes.
  • Mix melted vegan butter into yeast mixture, then gradually add flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead dough for 5-7 minutes with a stand mixer or 8-10 minutes by hand until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape dough into a ball, place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Prepare garlic filling by mashing room-temperature vegan butter, minced garlic, and chili flakes in a bowl until smooth.
  • After dough rises, punch down and divide into 10-12 pieces. Roll each into a disc.
  • Spread 2 teaspoons of garlic filling on each disc, fold in half, and stack in a parchment-lined loaf pan.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Brush top with melted vegan butter and bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Optional: sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.

Notes

Ensure water is lukewarm for proper yeast activation.
Give dough ample time to rise for the best texture and flavor.
Feel free to add herbs to the filling for extra flavor.
