- 1/2 lb pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (plus more for dipping)
- 9 slices provolone cheese
- 9 slices salami
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese (freshly grated)
- 1 egg (beaten)
- Fresh basil (chopped, for garnish, optional)
- Grated parmesan cheese (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out pizza dough to 10×16 inches on the baking sheet.
- Spread pizza sauce over 2/3 of the dough, leaving a plain strip.
- Layer salami, provolone, and mozzarella over the sauced part.
- Brush the plain strip of dough with beaten egg.
- Fold in sides of dough, then roll tightly from the filled edge.
- Brush with remaining egg and cut diagonal slits on top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden-brown.
- Garnish with basil and parmesan after baking.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
Notes
Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
Avoid overloading fillings to prevent bursting while baking.
