- 3 ½ oz strawberry vanilla simple syrup
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz Cointreau
- Ice (as needed)
- Sprite (to taste)
- Splash of lime juice
- Salt or sugar for rim (optional)
- 1 cup water
- Seeds from 1 vanilla bean
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup hulled and sliced strawberries
Instructions
- Combine water, sugar, sliced strawberries, and vanilla bean seeds in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- After 10-12 minutes, strain the syrup into a measuring cup.
- Fill a shaker with ice and add syrup, tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice.
- Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Rim the glass with salt or sugar, then pour the margarita, adding ice and topping with Sprite.
- Garnish with sliced strawberries and conversation hearts.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace spirits with more Sprite and orange juice.
