- 1 cup (16 Tbsp; 226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 Tablespoon (15ml) unsulphured or dark molasses
- 1 and 2/3 cups (209g) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups (255g) old-fashioned whole rolled oats
- 1 cup (140g) raisins
- optional: 1/2 cup (64g) chopped toasted walnuts
Instructions
- Cream together butter and sugars until smooth.
- Incorporate eggs and flavorings, mixing until blended.
- Combine dry ingredients and mix into wet mix until just combined.
- Fold in oats and raisins, then chill the dough for 30-60 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare baking sheets.
- Shape dough into balls and place on sheets.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned edges appear.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Make sure butter is at room temperature for optimal creaming.
Chilling the dough prevents excessive spreading while baking.
Feel free to experiment by adding chocolate chips or different nuts.
