- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup brown sugar

- Red sanding sugar
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons sour cream
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg yolk and vanilla; combine well.
- Gradually add flour mixture and red food coloring.
- Roll dough into balls, coat with red sanding sugar.
- Make an indentation in each cookie.
- Bake for 10 minutes, fill with cream cheese mixture, and bake for another 10-12 minutes.
- Cool on wire rack.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for easier mixing.
Adjust food coloring for desired shade.
Avoid overbaking to keep cookies soft.
