  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 3 Large eggs, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup Sour cream or Greek yogurt, room temperature
  • 1 cup Buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1 tsp Red gel food coloring
  • 4 oz Cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 cups Powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare cheesecake layer by beating cream cheese and sugar until smooth, then mix in flour, vanilla, and egg.
  • Preheat oven to 350℉. Grease and line a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  • Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, whisk oil, sugar, vinegar, vanilla, sour cream, eggs, buttermilk, and food coloring.
  • Fold dry ingredients into wet, then layer half batter in the prepared pan, top with cheesecake mixture, and cover with remaining batter.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pan before transferring to rack.
  • Make frosting by beating butter, then cream cheese, and adding sifted powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Spread frosting on cooled cake and decorate as desired.
