Ingredients

  • 3 cups Cachaça (or any white rum)

  • 1 lime (peels plus slices for garnish)
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, smashed
  • 1 star anise (optional)

Instructions

  • Melt sugar in a pot over medium heat until light gold.
  • Add ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and fruit peels, stirring constantly.
  • Slowly add water while stirring, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Mix in cachaça, keeping it at a low simmer.
  • Remove from heat, cover, and let rest for 15 minutes.
  • Serve in mugs garnished with fruit slices.
