- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed (or substitute with light brown sugar)
- 1 cup pumpkin puree (note: do not use pumpkin pie filling)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice or ground cinnamon
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1/4 tsp maple extract (or substitute vanilla)
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1 Tbsp milk or cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350℉ and prepare a loaf pan.
- Cream the softened butter and brown sugar in a large bowl.
- Mix in the pumpkin puree and eggs until well combined.
- Combine the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan.
- Prepare the streusel by mixing melted butter, flour, brown sugar, and spices.
- Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool on a wire rack and prepare the maple glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and let it set before slicing.
Notes
Avoid over-mixing the batter to ensure a tender loaf.
Use room temperature ingredients for better results.
Check that your baking powder and baking soda are fresh.
