  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • Melt 1 cup of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice to the melted butter and toast for a minute.
  • Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 cup of packed brown sugar, and 1 cup of canned pumpkin.
  • Mix in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 1 large egg until smooth.
  • Gently incorporate 2 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder; do not overmix.
  • Fold in 1 cup each of semisweet and dark chocolate chips.
  • Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool and slice into squares.

Notes

Using room temperature ingredients helps blend everything nicely.
