- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1 (17-ounce) box of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 6–8 full-size hot dogs
- 1 cup fine shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle juice
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
- Defrost puff pastry until pliable.
- Prepare egg wash with egg and water.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the puff pastry and cut into rectangles.
- Wrap each hot dog with pastry, sealing edges.
- Place on the baking sheet seam-side down.
- Chill in the freezer or refrigerator to maintain shape.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Brush hot dogs with egg wash and add slits for steam.
- Optionally, coat with cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 24-26 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly and prepare pink sauce.
- Serve with pink sauce for dipping.
