- ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
- ½ cup chopped red bell pepper
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons Better than Bouillon beef base
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- ½ cup water
- 5 ounces shredded provolone cheese (smoked provolone recommended)
- 8 sandwich buns
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet, sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add chopped onions and peppers; sauté until tender-crisp, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining olive oil and ground sirloin with seasonings; brown the meat thoroughly.
- Mix in beef bouillon base and tomato paste; return the vegetables to the skillet.
- Pour in water and simmer for 15-20 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Fold in shredded provolone cheese until melted and serve on sandwich buns.
Notes
Using lean ground sirloin offers flavor without excessive fat.
For a cheesier option, consider mixing mozzarella or cheddar.
