Ingredients

  • 1 lb. jalapeno peppers (about 10 jalapenos)
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Mexican oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin (optional)
  • 810 cilantro sprigs
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Sauté chopped onion and garlic until soft.
  • Add Mexican oregano, black pepper, and optional cumin.
  • Add roughly chopped jalapenos, vinegar, water, and salt.
  • Bring mixture to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer to a blender, add lime juice and cilantro, and blend.
  • Pour sauce into bottles or a jar and refrigerate.

Notes
