- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup water (for syrup)
- 10–12 medium-sized fresh limes (about 1 cup of lime juice, plus 1 lime for garnish)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (plus extra for garnish)
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
- 6 cups cold water
- Ice
Instructions
- Make honey-sweetened simple syrup by heating honey and water until dissolved, then cool.
- Juice fresh limes to obtain about 1 cup of lime juice.
- In a large pitcher, mix the cooled syrup with lime juice, add strawberries and basil.
- Add 6 cups of cold water and stir well.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Serve over ice, garnishing with extra strawberries, basil, and lime.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider adding lime zest to the syrup while it cools.
This limeade is best served fresh but can last up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
Adjust sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
