- 1 teaspoon active dry or instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (180ml) warm water (100-110°F / 38-43°C)
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour, plus more for hands and surface
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil, plus 2 teaspoons for brushing
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove minced garlic, and/or 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Whisk yeast, sugar, and warm water in a bowl. Let it sit until foamy.
- Add flour, olive oil, salt, and any optional seasonings. Mix until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until soft and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 45 minutes.
- Prepare your favorite toppings while the dough rises.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (246°C).
- Punch down the dough, divide, and shape into desired thickness.
- Poke holes in the dough, brush with olive oil, and add toppings.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until crust is golden brown.
- Slice and enjoy warm.
Notes
Ensure water temperature is ideal for activating yeast.
If dough is sticky, add flour gradually for the right consistency.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week.
