- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 cup Karo syrup (or corn syrup)
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for finishing)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and tools.
- Melt the butter, then add sugars, syrup, condensed milk, and salt in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir until combined and cook to 238°F on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and mix in vanilla.
- Pour into a buttered 9" x 13" baking dish, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and cool before cutting.
Notes
Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature.
Stir constantly while cooking to avoid burning.
Let caramel cool fully before cutting for clean edges.
