- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 lbs apples (about 6–7 medium apples)
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup toffee bits
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup roughly chopped hazelnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉ and grease a baking dish.
- Peel and cube the apples, then mix with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
- Fold in toffee bits and place in baking dish.
- For topping, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, salt, and hazelnuts until crumbly.
- Sprinkle topping over apple mixture and bake for 35-45 minutes until golden.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use a variety of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor.
Allow crumble to cool slightly for better flavor melding.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
