Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese filling: blend cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, flour, and vanilla until smooth. Add food coloring and milk, then freeze for 2 hours.
- Make the cookie dough: beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Mix in egg, milk, baking soda, vanilla extract, cocoa, and food coloring.
- Gradually add flour until the dough is smooth. Chill the dough for 1-2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
- Form cookies by rolling chilled dough into balls, flattening, adding cream cheese filling, and sealing with more dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are firm and centers are soft. Cool on a rack.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling.
Adjust black food coloring to achieve desired color.
Chill dough to prevent cookies from spreading.
