- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 onions, thinly sliced

- 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
- 1 pound deli sliced roast beef
- 12 slices Swiss cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter (for brushing)
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 ½ tablespoons dried onion soup mix
- Au jus gravy mix (prepared when serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet and caramelize the onions for about 15 minutes; season with thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the baking sheet.
- Layer roast beef, Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions on the bottom buns.
- Mix 3 tablespoons melted butter with Dijon mustard and brush it on the top buns; sprinkle with onion soup mix.
- Tent with foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted; remove foil and bake an additional 5 minutes for crispy tops.
- Serve with au jus for dipping.
