- 6–8 ripe but firm pears, cut into ½-¾” cubes (about 5 heaping cups or 650g)
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp salted vegan butter, melted (or butter of choice)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup salted vegan butter, cold (or butter of choice)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Peel and core the pears, then cut into cubes.
- Mix pears with light brown sugar, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cornstarch.
- Pour melted vegan butter over the mixture and toss to coat.
- Transfer the pear mixture to a greased baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine flour, cold vegan butter, cinnamon, ground ginger, and light brown sugar to create the crumble.
- Mix in chopped walnuts and crumble over the pear mixture.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 40-50 minutes until golden.
Notes
Use ripe but firm pears for the best texture.
Allow the crumble to cool slightly before serving for better flavor.
Experiment with different nuts for added variety.
