- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter-flavored Crisco
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5–6 tablespoons cold water
- 6 yellow delicious apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1 can frozen apple juice concentrate (thawed)
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Mix flour, Crisco, and salt until crumbly.
- Add cold water gradually to form dough.
- Roll out dough for bottom and top crusts.
- Place bottom crust in pie pan.
- Prepare apple filling by mixing apples with juice concentrate, cornstarch, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour filling into the bottom crust.
- Top with the second crust and seal edges.
- Make slits in the top crust for ventilation.
- Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F for 30 minutes.
Notes
Use crisp apple varieties for the best flavor.
Chill the dough for a flakier texture.
