- ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (248g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup dulce de leche
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate egg and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Spread dulce de leche over the pressed dough.
- Crumble remaining dough over the top of the dulce de leche.
- Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature for easier creaming.
