- ½ tbsp olive oil
- 2 lbs sirloin steak sliced into bite-size strips
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 piece 1-inch ginger minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 2 bell peppers sliced
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the steak, salt, and pepper, cooking until browned but not fully cooked. Remove from heat.
- In a Crockpot, add garlic, ginger, sesame oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, and beef broth. Whisk until well combined.
- Stir in the browned steak and sliced onion, coating them in the sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- In the last 30 minutes of cooking, add bell peppers and cornstarch slurry.
- Cover and continue on high for another 30 minutes until peppers are tender and sauce is thickened.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the steak in the sauce for a few hours before cooking.
Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Adjust the amount of brown sugar according to your sweetness preference.
