Crispy Teriyaki Tofu & Broccoli

This recipe combines crispy golden tofu with tender broccoli, all coated in a delicious homemade teriyaki sauce. It’s perfect for a busy weeknight and packed with nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces firm tofu (or extra firm)
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 3 cups chopped broccoli
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (plus more for topping)

Instructions

  • Press the tofu to remove moisture, then mix cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Prepare the teriyaki sauce by mixing water, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger.
  • Slice tofu and coat with cornstarch mixture.
  • Heat oil in a pan, stir-fry broccoli for 5 minutes, then set aside.
  • Cook tofu in the same pan until golden and crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Add broccoli back in, pour sauce over, and stir for about a minute until thickened.
  • Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

Use firm or extra-firm tofu for the best texture.
Experiment with different vegetables for added variety.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
