- 1 sheet puff pastry, homemade or frozen
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ⅓ cup powdered sugar (for filling)
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract (for filling)
- ¾ cup cherry pie filling
- 1 large egg, whisked (for brushing)
- 2 tablespoons sliced almonds
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400℉ and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a larger rectangle and transfer to the baking sheet.
- Cut two small triangles from one end; trim corners from the opposite end.
- Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and almond extract until smooth.
- Spread filling down the center of the pastry, then add cherry pie filling on top.
- Make diagonal cuts on each side of the pastry and fold strips over the filling.
- Brush with whisked egg and top with sliced almonds.
- Bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled Danish.

Consider using fresh cherries instead of pie filling for a twist.
